Why have a designer manage your project?!

Verbal communication skills, as well as strong time management and leadership skills go a long way in ensuring smooth and efficient running of projects. Having your designer manage your projects; gives you peace of mind that your intended design materializes and comes to life within a stipulated timeframe and a set financial plan.

The following are more benefits of having a professional manage your project:

  • Analyze and guide space and design planning for implementation of interior design strategies.
  • Manage project calendars, arrange stakeholder meetings, and maintain sample libraries.
  • Conduct site visits to ensure that set standards and schedules are met to avoid delays.
  • Provide clients with status updates and notify them of any disruptions.
  • Negotiate fees with contractors and vendors on behalf of the client.
  • Interact with clients, contractors, and staff to communicate and enforce project goals and deadlines.
  • Manage resources to limit waste and guarantee effective use of  materials.
  • Coordination with contractors, vendors, and property-owners to ensure timely delivery of services and accountability of on-site activities.

New Year.. New Designs..

We’ve had quite the busy end to 2016, and we’d resolved to be more proactive in the upkeep of our online presence… but alas; it’s the 1st day of March and we’re just now posting for the first time this year.. THE RESOLVE 🙂

Nonetheless; a cheery Zoetic HELLO to you..

We hope you’ve had a good beginning to 2017. We’d like to share some of the designs from various projects that’ve kept us on our toes these past few months:

Design Galore

We had the opportunity to attend this year’s Decorex Joburg and 100% Design which was hosted in Midrand, South Africa this past weekend. We are talking all things design; from furniture manufacturers and designers, lighting fixtures, new material compositions and the latest in design trends. We even took part in their business to business matchmaking programme; which was quite fruitful to say the very least.

Among the highlights of the show we had Plascon’s Colour Manager, Anne Roselt,  introduce the Colour Forecast for 2017; with ‘In The Mood’ 06-E2-3 being #ColourOfTheYear! Colour stories for 2017 include Anonymous, which are your light, simple and calm tones; Terrain with the rich, earthy and warm tones; Prism with its youthful, bright and fun colours.. and also Pause, with the minimalist, warm and lived-in tones.

There was also an exhibition dedicated to 100% Colour, which was presented by Plascon. This was a depiction of the use of colour in design across the continent; revealing various textures, patterns and tones as influenced by the far reaches of the ever #vibrant African continent (seen in the snaps below):

We also managed to get a glimpse of the InStudio Talks presented by Kohler. Among the speakers was Robert Stevenson; the lead industrial designer for the Kohler London Design Studio. He elaborated a bit on Kohler’s Lifestyle Features, which he noted to be contemplative, that they promote proactive well-being and also redefine communities. Nadia van der Mescht; a creative business development specialist, also gave an insightful presentation on some useful tips for entrepreneurs in the creative industry. These included among others; setting personal and business boundaries, prioritizing one’s work accordingly, establishing a workable routine and also figuring out what really works for us as business people.

P.S. A huge designer #ThankYou to Nadia for the lovely, well-thought gift she gave us. Hoping to meet with her again soon and chat about our creative business 🙂 #nvdmlearn

A great insightful weekend all-round. Met new great people, made new business contacts and networked with formidable designers alike. We hope to participate in other events to come.

High-end Tech Store

This design proposal for a high-end tech store was to accommodate high traffic of customers while promoting the customers’ engagement and experience of the various tech sold. These presentation samples provide the client with various aspects of the design; the layout, material selection, lighting, circulation and design specifications in general.

Mood Board showing design direction and furniture selection for a lounge area.

The sole purpose of a mood board is to depict various material selections, textures, colour scheme and components of a space to be designed. As seen in this example for a lounge space, the design direction gravitates towards a contemporary setting that would very much blend well with the suggested creative and sculptural elements. Shopping for furniture, materials and even paint is thoroughly simplified when one has a #MoodBoard.

🙂

Salon Design

As part of the commercial design of this salon, the client wished for a chic and soothing deign that would be appreciated by their esteemed clientèle and also be suited by a reasonable budget.

Following an elaborate layout plan configuration and 3D drawings to smoothen out the design process, we started working on building up the actual interiors. As depicted in the images to follow, we opted for a simplistic layout for easy circulation of people within the space and we also utilized a cool contrast of paint colours to create a chic ambiance that can be relatable to both sexes. The final material and furniture selection greatly enhanced the feel of the interiors.

Final Design

Dining.. as it should be!

This design was part of a home renovation for a private client in Mochudi; a vibrant village not far from Gaborone.

The dining space embodies a subtle symmetry created by the dining table in its alignment to the ceiling form and the entire space. The curtains have reinforced eyelet holes that run through a bold perspex pole; and their full length give an impression of a big lengthy window behind. The wallpaper finish, the exquisite accessories and the furniture all come together to create this uniquely luxurious interior.

More from this project to follow.. 🙂

It’s Turquoise Tuesday

Do not be afraid of colour; who said a bathroom has to be dull and gloomy?! Be bold and courageous! play around with paint, mosaic tiles and feature walls to create that perfect sanctuary to unwind and take long baths after those long, hectic days.. 🙂
